Our Board Members

The Tū Compass Health organisation has a Board, the members of which are listed below. There are many sub-committees of this Board.
Dr Larry Jordan

Dr Larry Jordan (Chairman)

Dr Larry Jordan has lived and practised as a family GP in Porirua for 40 years. For much of this time he has been involved in the development and governance of primary care services including after hours medical services. He previously chaired the Tumai mo te Iwi PHO. Larry is the Chair of the Tū Ora Board.


Dr Bryan Betty

Dr Bryan Betty

Dr Bryan Betty is a GP and sits on the Board of Trustees of Porirua Union Health in Cannons Creek. He is also Deputy Medical Director at PHARMAC, and is Chairman of the Capital and Coast ICC Alliance Leadership Team. Bryan is presently Chairman of the Tū Ora Compass Health Very Low Cost Access and Youth Council, having previously been Chair of the Well Health PHO prior to its merger with Tū Ora.

 


Chris Fawcett

Chris Fawcett              

Dr Chris Fawcett has been a GP on the Kapiti Coast for 30 years and has worked at Hora Te Pai since 2013. His current interests include quality improvement in Primary Care and future models of health care.


Dale Coles

Dale Coles

Dale Coles has a Masters degree in Education from Massey University and a degree in Tupunga Hapū from Te Wānanga-o-Raukawa. She also has a background in policy and enjoys applying her policy knowledge as a problem-solving process when making decisions in her board work. Dale is the Chair of Tū Ora Māori Health Committee.


Faye Haewera

Faye Haerewa          

Faye is a Nurse Practitioner and is currently lead nurse at Hora Te Pai. She has worked in primary health care for more than 12 years. Faye was part of a team that set up the wait-list clinic in Horowhenua and has worked in the acute clinic as a Nurse Practitioner intern. She has a Bachelor of Nursing, post Graduate Diploma in Health Science with a rural focus and Masters Nursing (clinical) with prescribing practicum.


Dr Larry Jordan

Dr Nick Crozier

Dr Nick Crozier has been a GP in the Wairarapa for 25 years. His interests medically are long term care and end of life care, working in general practice. He also sits on the Wairarapa District Health Board as a Board member. He is married with two children, and in his spare time he enjoys woodturning.


Richard Medlicott

Dr Richard Medlicott

Dr Richard Medlicott has been a GP at Island Bay Medical Centre for more than 19 years. He is also the Medical Director for the Royal New Zealand College of GPs. He is the Clinical Lead on the information management alliance, and a member of the Integrated Care Collaboration project between the DHB and PHOs. Richard is the past chairperson of the Health Information Standards Organisation. Other affiliations include current member of the Pharmac Cardiovascular Subcommittee.


Simon Watts

Simon Watts

Simon works in Wellington at the commercial law firm Bell Gully where he has been a partner since 2000. Simon is Bell Gully’s Deputy Chair and heads the firm’s Government, Health and Climate Change practice groups. Much of his work involves public sector contracting and procurement, including in the areas of ultra-fast broadband, infrastructure projects and public private partnerships. He also advises Crown Entity boards on public sector governance. During 1997 and 1998 Simon was seconded as Legal Counsel to PHARMAC. He continues to advise PHARMAC, as well as DHBs on their individual and collective procurement activities.


Tofa Suafole Gush

Tofa Suafole Gush

Tofa Suafole Gush serves on the Tū Ora Compass Health Board as a Pacific representative. Of Samoan descent, Tofa has been a public servant for over 30 years and has had various senior roles in government and the NGO sector. A strong advocate for Pacific issues, Tofa has extensive public sector experience in health, housing, social development, and with agencies involved in Pacific development.

Tofa is currently Director Pacific Peoples’ Health for Wairarapa and Hutt Valley District Health Board. This role ensures Pacific health issues are in the forefront of DHBs conversation, acknowledging also the contribution the Pacific community brings to the continuing improvement of its population wellbeing. Tofa has a Masters Degree in Public Management from Victoria University.


Trevor Taylor

Trevor Taylor

Trevor is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors. He chairs the Audit and Finance Committee of Tū Ora Compass Health.

Trevor has wide ranging senior executive and governance experience covering the private, public, local government, health, not for profit and sporting sectors. He is currently independent Chair of Worldskills NZ, Chair of Wellington Free Ambulance Trust, board member of New Zealand Olympic Committee, board member of Surf Life Saving New Zealand, Chair Te Pūtahitanga O Te Waipounu and Independent Director and Chair Governance and Finance Committee Greyhound Racing NZ. Previous governance roles include within the energy and construction-transport sectors.

Trevor’s initial career was within the energy sector where he spent 25 years working for Petrocorp, Fletcher Challenge Petroleum, Southern Petroleum and the Electricity Corporation of New Zealand. He then moved into consulting with a focus on change management and turnarounds. Trevor has formerly worked in the not for profit sector as CEO of the Outward Bound Trust of New Zealand.
