Brief Interventions

Brief interventions are short-term interventions that aim to address a specific concern in just a few sessions. These interventions tend to focus on the present and aim to address a specific problem using a range of approaches. Depending on your level of distress, the following brief interventions may be available to you:

Extended GP Consultation

Extended GP Consultations are a brief, practice-based intervention consisting of up to 1-hour GP time. This time can be divided into (4) 15-minute or (2) half-hour consultations. Eligibility requirements are the same as for therapy. Please note these business rules do not apply to Wairarapa practices.

Primary Mental Health Practitioner Brief Intervention Therapy

Primary Mental Health Practitioners offer Brief Intervention therapy either within your primary practice or within the Compass Health counselling rooms.  This is a funded, low intensity intervention for mild presentations. Click here to contact the PMHC in your area.
