Kerry Prendergast, Chairperson

Kerry Prendergast is the former Mayor of Wellington and former Vice-President of Local Government New Zealand and holds an MBA from Victoria University. Kerry was awarded a CNZM in 2011 for her services to local government, and is a distinguished Alumni of Victoria University.

Geoff Simmons

Geoff is an economist, writer, and researcher at the Morgan Foundation – an independent foundation sponsoring public interest research in New Zealand. Geoff co-authored books “Health Cheque: The truth we should all know about New Zealand’s public health system” and “A Prescription for Change: A follow up to Health Check”, alongside New Zealand economist, philanthropist and fund manager Gareth Morgan.


Pania Houkamau-Ngaheu, Ngāti Porou, Tuhoe

Pania is the Chair of Horouta Marae and is the Kaumatua for WINZ Community Links, is a strong community leader and has excellent community networks. She is a Member of Rotary Porirua, has social sector and youth expertise. One of her major achievements is the build of Horouta wharenui with a zero budget.

Neil Macrae

Neil has spent a considerable period of his working and private life dealing with community issues and  acting as an advocate for victims of crime or members of the public in need of assistance.  He has had frequent contact with health providers, ranging from emergency care for those injured to those requiring care and attention for mental illness.  Through the nature of his employment he has enjoyed contact with many persons from all walks of life, socio economic background , troubled and successful youth to the aged and vulnerable.

Neil lives in Porirua with his wife and daughter and is the Deployment Manager in the New Zealand Police, National Prevention Centre.


John Hayes

John has long experience in broadcasting and local council. He has expertise in elder health and is the Chair of the Kapiti Coast Older Persons’ Council also the administrator for Kids Motivation Trust.


Bradley Martin

Brad is a community representative of the Alliance Leadership Team Wairarapa and has experiences in community health and primary care. He works in Youth and Family sector issues, i.e. bullying and violence suicide risks, sex and ethics, and family violence, and family advocacy. He has worked in the Wairarapa for 14 years; was president of Wairarapa Nui Tonu and Chair of Te Kohanga Reo o Ngati Hamua.

Viv Napier

Viv is the current Deputy Mayor for South Wairarapa District Council, chairs various councils, and has a long time association with health based organisations. Viv has wide community networks in the CCDHB and WDHB areas through involvement with a wide range of organisations — health, education, sports, social services, and local and central government agencies.

Dale Coles, Rangitāne, Ngāti Kahungunu

Dale has a degree in Tupunga Hapū from Te Wānanga-o-Raukawa. She also has a Master’s Degree in Education from Massey University and a background in policy. Dale enjoys applying her knowledge of policy as a problem-solving process when making decisions in her board work.

Dale is Chair of Compass Māori Health Committee and Deputy Chair of the Whaiora Trust Board. She is a Trustee, and Member of Finance, Risk & Audit Committee of Papawai Kaikōkirikiri Trust Board.
