Compass Health opens community engagement on Innervate4: Draft 2015-2020 Draft Population Health Strategy

Media Release: 1 October 2015

Compass Health PHO is pleased to present Innervate4, our draft population health strategy. Innervate4 has been developed to support our organisational vision to ‘work together towards healthy and flourishing communities’. Compass now opens the channels for communities’ voice to be heard and is inviting submissions on our draft strategy for 2015-2020.

The strategy presents actions to implement our strategic goals and identifies key challenges and opportunities for chronic disease prevention, health promotion, and Whānau Ora as part of our core functions.

The engagement involves a submission process on the draft strategy, and hui/meetings in Wellington, Porirua, Kapiti and the Wairarapa. Individuals, whānau, families, and groups can highlight the areas in the strategy that need to be strengthened and developed further to contribute to healthier lives for our population.

Newtown Medical Centre GP and Compass Health Board Trustee Dr. Don Simmers sums up the importance of making a submission on this strategy, “I believe looking at strategies that improve the health status of whole communities is the most effective and efficient way to address society’s health needs. Compass Health and the communities it serves need to engage with each other over what can be done.”

Compass urges people to be a voice for their community and take the lead in advocating for what is best for their community’s health and wellbeing.

Anyone interested in making a submission can download the strategy and submission form from our website at and email your submission to
